The University of Cambodia Foundation has been established to attract support from the private sector for The University of Cambodia and its affiliated programs. The Foundation aims to maximize this support by uniting donor and university passions to achieve educational excellence. The Foundation's mission is to facilitate the attainment and administration of private resource donations in support of academic programs, student scholarships, faculty and facility developments, and setting up of endowments to increase the value of existing gifts, in order to enable the University to fulfill its own mission of excellence in providing quality education, research, and public service initiatives.

"UC SCHOLAR DREAMS OF ACHIEVING HIGHER EDUCATION" BY BUTH REAKSMEY KONGKEA, MARCH 15 - 21, 2009 / VOL. 3, ISSUE NO. 11

Phoan Putheary, 19, was one of The University of Cambodia’s “Samdech Hun Sen-Handa National Scholarships 2008” recipients in 2008. She passed the scholarship exams at The University of Cambodia (UC) as well as at the University of Puthisastra (UP).
 


A representative from the Thakral  Group of Companies presented 50 boxes of books to university President Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.
Book Donations Expand UC Library

The University of Cambodia would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rikhi Thakral of the Thakral Group of Companies for his generous support in the garnering and donation of 1,900 books and 505 magazines to the Toshu Fukami Library. The books were provided courtesy of the National University of Singapore, Mr. Teo Jing Kok, Mr. Koh Say Choon and Mr. Eric Sim.

Also, thank you to Mr. Graeme Priestly, a former instructor in the Center for English Studies, for his donation of 32 books to the Toshu Fukami Library.

One of the University of Cambodia’s Samdech Techo Hun Sen “Vision 100”scholarship students, Peou Sopheak, 19, has provided an interview to the Cambodia Weekly on February 19. Sopeak was born in 1988 in Phnom Penh and has two sisters and one brother. He is now studying International Relations at the University of Cambodia (UC).

Noun Pichsoudeny, 18, is one of the University of Cambodia’s Samdech Techo Hun Sen “Vision 100”scholarship students and has spent time to provide an interview to the Cambodia Weekly on February 11.
 

The youngest novel writer in Cambodia was born in 1989 in Pailin and has one sister and one brother. She is now studying Economics at the University of Cambodia (UC).
 

Pichsoudeny is well-known as the youngest student writer in the Kingdom of Cambodia after her four novels were published and bought by many readers. The books continue to be sold at book shops throughout the country.
 

“I have read Khmer novels, short stories and magazines since I was 7 years old. I have probably read over three 300 books so far,” she said.

Phnom Penh, 4 February 2009: The University of Cambodia would like to express its utmost gratitude to the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh for it’s donation of 160 books to the Toshu Fukami Library. The books will be shelved in the library’s newly established “India Corner.”

Phnom Penh, 26 January 2009: The University of Cambodia today has approved nine projects, submitted by The University of Cambodia Student Senate (UCSS), which are worth about US$6,000. The approval of the nine projects was made following the meeting between The University of Cambodia President, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, and the UC Student Senate leaders on Saturday, 24 January 2009. The UC Student Senate has requested the financial support from the University to help cover the costs of various activities and program that it planned to undertake during its mandate in 2009.
